What is Dynamic Forms
Technology?
Dynamic Forms Technology allows you to customize the
user interface of a Palm application in an easy and powerful way. You
can place standard Palm controls in almost any position in the screen,
so your application will look just
the way you want, and you will be able to store just the information you need. D-Lock
is the first application to use this powerful technology, and in the
future you can expect more applications to use it.
Why is DForm Editor a separate application?
DForm
Editor's functionality is not included in D-Lock
for your convenience. We realize that you will not be modifying Dynamic
Forms very frequently. The power of Dynamic Forms Technology makes the
Form Editing code fairly big, so forcing you to always use that space
on your Palm doesn't seem right to us. We think that an excellent
compromise is to have D-Lock and DForm
Editor as separate applications, because in this way you
can install the Form Editing program only when you need to use it. If
you have an external memory card (MMC or Memory Stick, for example) you
can install DForm Editor in the external
card, and then you only have to insert the memory card whenever you
need to modify or create a form.
What happens if I
modify a Dynamic Form that I am using to store data?
What happens depends on what kind of modification you make to the
Dynamic Form. Basically there are two kinds of modifications:
Add a control to a Dynamic
Form: In this case nothing will happen. You will see the new
control in any record that uses the Dynamic Form, and your data will be
preserved.
Remove a control from a
Dynamic Form: In this case you may loose data. If you remove a
control from a Dynamic Form, and then open and close a record that uses
this Dynamic Form, the data stored for the control you removed will be
lost. Please be careful when removing controls from Dynamic Forms that
you use to store data.
How safe is my data?
All records stored in D-Lock are encrypted using
128-bit strong Blowfish encryption. Until now there is no known
weakness for this algorithm. Your password is not stored in D-Lock,
so you can be sure that only you will have access to your data.
Can I perform a
Global Find to search for records stored in D-Lock?
Because D-Lock doesn't store your
password anywhere (see previous
question), in the current version of the program you can not
perform a Global Find to search for records stored in D-Lock.
One of the new features we plan on introducing in the near future is to
allow Global Find on D-Lock's records when you
have the application open in your Palm device. Please visit our website
frequently to find out about new versions of D-Lock.
Can I modify and
synchronize records on my desktop PC?
We are working on a desktop PC application to modify and display the
information stored in D-Lock. We plan
to have this application ready for version 2.0 of D-Lock.
